Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Starsunder Studio ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you play Starsunder (the "Game") on Android, PC, or any other platform, or visit this website.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the data needed to run online multiplayer, save your progress, and respond to your feedback:
- Device identifier. A random identifier generated for your installation of the Game. It is used to sign you in as a guest and restore your session and progress. It is not your hardware serial number or advertising ID.
- Account information (optional). If you choose to register an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are handled and stored securely by our backend provider (PlayFab) and are never visible to us in plain text. Your email is used for sign-in, account verification, and password reset.
- Player handle. The display name you choose, shown to other players in matches and on leaderboards.
- Gameplay data. Match results, combat statistics, progression, rank, and quest completion, used for your profile, progression, and leaderboards.
- Feedback submissions (optional). If you send feedback from the in-game menu, we receive your message, an optional email address if you provide one, your player handle, device identifier, app version, and platform, so we can investigate issues and reply to you.
- Network data. When you play online, your IP address is processed by our multiplayer networking provider (Photon) to establish and relay match connections. It is used transiently for connectivity and is not used by us to identify you.
2. What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not show ads and do not use any advertising SDKs or advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
- We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data.
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate online multiplayer matches and matchmaking.
- To create and maintain your player account, save your progress, and display leaderboards.
- To send account emails you request (verification, password reset).
- To read and respond to feedback you send us.
- To prevent cheating, fraud, and abuse.
4. Third-Party Services
The Game relies on the following service providers, which process data on our behalf:
- Microsoft Azure PlayFab — accounts, authentication, progress, statistics, and leaderboards. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Photon (Exit Games GmbH) — real-time multiplayer networking. See the Photon Privacy Policy.
- Brevo — delivery of feedback emails and transactional account emails. See the Brevo Privacy Policy.
- Google Play — app distribution and updates on Android. See the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Data Sharing
We share data only with the service providers listed above, strictly to operate the Game. Your player handle and gameplay statistics are visible to other players in matches and on leaderboards. We do not otherwise share, rent, or sell your personal information, except where required by law.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Account and gameplay data are retained for as long as your account exists so your progress is preserved. Uninstalling the Game removes data stored on your device but does not delete server-side data.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data (device identifier, email, handle, progress, and statistics) at any time using our Account Deletion form or by emailing us at the address below. Include your player handle so we can locate your account. We will complete verified deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Children
The Game is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with established providers (Microsoft Azure PlayFab, Photon). Sensitive credentials such as passwords are never stored on our servers in plain text. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/EEA or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will also be communicated in the Game or on this website.
